A bit about me
I write music for all sorts of instruments and I love doing orchestration.
I studied for my Masters Degree at Leeds Conservatoire, specialising in music composition. I'm honoured to be one of Britten Sinfonia's Opus 1 composers for 2022/23. Currently, I'm a PhD composition student at the Royal Northern College of Music. In my other life, I'm an award-winning voiceover and writer...and I've featured in a Hollywood blockbuster movie. But this site is all about the music... |
I host a couple of music podcasts...
BEFORE THE BAR OPENS is all about what happens before the music starts.
I interview a bunch of people make, use and love music: composers, performers, buskers, choregraphers, sopranos, dancers, teachers, promoters, IP lawyers, jingle writers, music curators, venue bosses, backing vocalists, music therapists, stadium riggers... You get the picture. This podcast demystifies music and reveals its diversity and richness. BEFORE THE BAR OPENS will launch in September 2021. |
THE TITLE TRACK is a podcast that's all about how the title of a piece of music influences the way you hear it.
How much does a title influence how someone anticipates music? How does a title shape our perception of a piece? And is the composer’s intention ever truly heard by the audience? THE TITLE TRACK is a fascinating insight into how people feel about a piece of music before they’ve even heard a note. |
Have a listen to the Before the Bar Opens theme tune in full.
Here's some of my stuff...
Drop me a line.
I love hearing from people. I mean, can be a bit lonely writing music. So feel free to hit the button and send me an email.
I'll reply as soon as I can, promise. |
